The mission of NAIAMVB and these conferences shall be to promote the positive ideals and objectives of athletics, to provide an organization of colleges with similar foundations to engage in athletic contests on an equal basis, to serve as a forum to formulate guidelines and solve common problems, to enhance and preserve athletics in their true perspective, to promote athletics in an academic environment. This conference shall facilitate the purposes of intercollegiate sports and further the learning goals of its member institutions.

The Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex on the campus of Missouri Baptist University will host the 2015 and 2016 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Invitational Tournament championship

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men’s Volleyball search committee has announced that the 2015 and 2016 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Tournament Championships presented by Tachikara will be hosted by Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Mo., and will take place at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex on the MBU campus.

The tournament will be held from Apr. 23-25 in 2015 and Apr. 21-23 in 2016. This marks the first time the national tournament has been held in the state of Missouri since Park University hosted in 2008 and 2009. Park won the national title in 2008 and Lindenwood (Mo.) won in 2009.

“We are excited to bring the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Invitational Tournament back to St. Louis and the Midwest,” said Bruce Billingsley, NAIA Men's Volleyball Commissioner. "We feel that Missouri Baptist will offer a first-class experience for our student-athletes, coaches and fans.

“The St. Louis area has rich traditions for both boy's and men's volleyball. We look forward to an event that will highlight the high caliber of competition that NAIA Men's Volleyball has to offer.”

The tournament was also hosted in the state of Missouri when Lindenwood was the tournament host in 2002 and 2005.

The event consists of six teams with Missouri Baptist earning an automatic bid as the host institution. Other teams competing are the winners of the NAIA North, NAIA South, NAIA Great Lakes and NAIA National Tournament championships and one at-large bid.

Many of the top NAIA men’s volleyball teams will have a chance to compete on MBU’s home floor before the national tournament during the regular season, as they host the 2015 Spartan Invitational on Mar. 20-21. The following teams will participate in that event: Missouri Baptist, Park (Mo.), Grand View (Iowa), St. Ambrose (Iowa), Lourdes (Ohio) and Concordia (Calif.).

“We are extremely excited to be hosting the NAIA National Invitational for 2015 and 2016,” said John Yehling, Missouri Baptist head men’s volleyball coach. “We are looking forward to showing off the great facilities that Missouri Baptist University has to offer and putting on a great show for the local volleyball community as well.

No. 3 Park won its Fourth NAIA National Invitational Tournament Championship on Saturday in Denver

DENVER, Colo. – For the fourth-time in program history the Park University men’s volleyball team captured the NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Tournament Championship after defeating defending national champion No. 1 Concordia University-Irvine in three sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-23) on Saturday night inside the Wildcat Center on the campus of Johnson and Wales University.

Park also won the national title in 2003, 2008 and 2012. This also marks the third-straight appearance in the national title match for the Pirates under head coach Mike Talamantes.

The Eagles end its season with a record of 28-8, while the Pirates end the year 30-4.

In the first set, Park was led by Daniel Arteaga and Fabricio Toledo’s four kills and hit .265 as a team.

Rob Cordero was on point with 13 assists and the Pirates had four total team blocks and ended the set with a triple block with Murilo Pereira, Rob Cordero and Arteaga supplying the final point.

In set two, Arteaga was unconscious supplying Park with nine kills on 14 attempts and Cordero had another 15 assists.

Concordia-Irvine was a bit more stout offensively with a hitting percentage of .250 and Brett Anema had four kills.

In the third and final set, the Pirates provided its best match statistically with a .480 team hitting percentage.

Cordero ended the night with 40 assists, while Arteaga led all players with 21 kills, the highest number of kills of any player for the entirety of the tournament.

For the Eagles, Harrison Carroll led the way with 12 kills and Kevin Fiske had 35 assists and Naseri Tumanuvao and Chris Reames led the way in digs with eight.
